Beginner STAR Puppy 6 Week Training Group

Training classes teach you how to best communicate with your puppy. Organized training classes also provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called.

How It Works

Attend an Beginner Puppy class for at least 6 weeks. Your instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC® for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs are welcome to participate in the program including purebreds and mixed breeds.

6-week session is $250

NEXT SESSION: 08/05/2023 – 09/09/2023 10am – 11am

*Puppies must have all 3 rounds of their puppy shots before starting training

OWNER BEHAVIORS: 1. Maintains puppy’s health (vaccines, exams, appears healthy) 2. Owner receives Responsible Dog Owner’s Pledge 3. Owner describes adequate daily play and exercise plan 4. Owner and puppy attend at least 6 classes by an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator 5. Owner brings bags to classes for cleaning up after puppy 6. Owner has obtained some form of ID for puppy-collar tag, etc.

PUPPY BEHAVIORS: 7. Free of aggression toward people during at least 6 weeks of class 8. Free of aggression toward other puppies in class 9. Tolerates collar or body harness of owner’s choice 10. Owner can hug or hold puppy (depending on size) 11. Puppy allows owner to take away a treat or toy

PRE-CANINE GOOD CITIZEN® TEST BEHAVIORS 12. Allows (in any position) petting by a person other than the owner 13. Grooming-Allows owner handling and brief exam (ears, feet) 14. Walks on a Leash-Follows owner on lead in a straight line (15 steps) 15. Walks by other people-Walks on leash past other people 5-ft away 16. Sits on command-Owner may use a food lure 17. Down on command-Owner may use a food lure 18. Comes to owner from 5-ft when name is called 19. Reaction to Distractions-distractions are presented 15-ft away 20. Stay on leash with another person (owner walks 10 steps and returns

I adopted a 5 year old rescue from Texas. He knew 0 commands. He would dart out doors and jump out of cars. I signed him up for the board and train at Integrity Dog Training. What he came back as is a whole new dog. He now knows commands (didn’t always listen as he is stubborn) and the support from Ben since he has been home is great. We rescued a Carolina Dog who had lived on the streets in TX prior to being shipped up to the PNW. When we got him, he didn't know how to walk on a leash, ride in a car etc... We began working with Ben with one-on-one lessons just to get the basics down. Otis made good progress, but needed intensive training. We did a 2 week "stay-n-train". Otis was returned to us a completely different dog. He heels without a leash, he comes when called, even if he's 200 yards away mole hunting, he stays on "place" when we need to eat dinner without him begging... the list goes on and on. Ben taught him how to behave in public spaces like stores and restaurants. Our dream is to get him certified as a service dog and I think it might be a reality now. The best thing about this trainer is he is gentle and positive. There are no harsh punishments or yelling. When I picked Otis up, I could tell he genuinely loved and respected Ben. He wasn't just behaving well out of fear. This trainer is the real deal - I'd trust him to be able to train any dog 🙂

I have a husky that was a little under a year and very hard at socializing with other animals just cuz she had never been around them and kind of was isolated as a puppy. And then with integrity had helped me control my emotion and be able to work with my dog and teach her how to be a great ESA which is exactly what I need because I have anxiety. She is now much happier she's on a great diet and she does very well around other dogs. And she is very friendly and is learning how to be a good service animal to me and very respectful to other owners and their animals. We even got her trained off the leash. I know that I can always go back if I have any questions or text or call and he'll be there to be able to help out. So I would highly recommend this dog trainer to help train your dog.

Ben trained my two German Shepherds previously with amazing results. They had gone through previous basic training at a pet store, but Ben took them to the next level. Improving upon what they had learned and getting them on voice commands rather than treats. We are now working together again on my Pitbull also expanding into more advanced training with her. I have been so impressed with how he communicates so effectively with each dog and how much they look forward to working with him.

I have had my previous dog, Margaret, trained by Ben. She was a challenge to say the least. Half husky/half German Shepard, all attitude and stubbornness, but also very sweet and funny! After we did a board and train, Margaret was happier and so were we! I wasn’t constantly yelling at her and she wasn’t constantly trying to figure out why I was yelling at her. She became a confident, well behaved, happy dog. Unfortunately we lost her unexpectedly too young, but our new puppy will also do a board and train with Ben when she is old enough. It makes for a happy dog and a happy human! Ben is the dog whisperer and I trust that anyone he hires to work with him will he just as good.

Ben has trained two of our Rottweilers, the latest being our stubborn, alpha, 5 month old puppy. We are able and confident allowing our two and four year old walk them both. We highly recommend his services to anyone with a dog. He does wonders and the training lasts a lifetime. Ben is always available for follow up questions.
